Research Interests: My major area of study is 20 th Century United States History, with an emphasis on politics and diplomacy. I also have fields in Military and Russian-Eastern European history. I am particularly interested in the development of foreign policy in the cold war period, and the relationships between the president and the press. My recent dissertation, “An Executive Echo Chamber: The Evolution of America’s Vietnam Policy from Truman to Johnson” explored the compulsion for continuity between administrations as one of the root causes of America’s deep involvement in Vietnam.

Current Projects: I am in the process of revising the dissertation in preparation for publication. Several articles are also in progress, including a study of renowned journalist Ernest K. Lindley, and an in-depth analysis of the relationship between Lyndon Johnson and Dwight Eisenhower.

Teaching Interests: I enjoy teaching all areas of American history, including topics such as World War II, the Vietnam War, American Diplomacy, Contemporary America, and War and U.S. Society.
