Additional Education Department Requirements

Waldorf College Education Club
Education students will be encouraged to participate in the Waldorf College Education Club throughout their college experience.

Community Service
Education students are required to give 100 hours to volunteer activities working with minority cultures and people of diverse needs, or participating in activities sponsored by community groups related to their profession. The activities should be people-oriented, independent of course requirements and volunteer work, not part of a paid job.

Experience with Diversity
As education students move through the program, they need to record their experiences with diversity on the Diversity Log.

Waiver/Fingerprinting
As specified by law since October 2000, elementary education students will submit a waiver and fingerprint card with an accurate self-report of all past criminal convictions. This is used for an FBI/DCI criminal history background check.

Praxis II
Praxis II is required by the State of Iowa Board of Educational Examiners for all elementary education teacher preparation candidates for licensure. The minimum score that you must achieve on test 10014, Elementary Education: Content Knowledge is 142; or test 10011, Elementary Education: Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment, 151. Before Waldorf College can release your license the above minimum score must be achieved.
