Curriculum
The Waldorf College Computer Information Systems (CIS) Department gives students opportunity to develop experience with the latest software, hardware, methods, and e-business concepts in the CIS field. The curriculum is based on the most recent standards (Information Systems 2001). The course offerings prepare students for a broad range of entry-level positions, along with giving the basis for continued learning and career growth.
CIS courses required for a major are CIS 111, 131, 202, 212, 232, 242, 321, 322, 331, 332, 333, 432, 485, and 495. Supporting business courses required for the major are BUS 101 Principles of Accounting, BUS 310 Principles of Management, BUS 315 Productions and Operations Management, and BUS 321 Organizational Theory. Also required are ECO 251 Macroeconomics, and MTH 110 Quantitative Methods, and either MTH 201 Elementary Statistics or BUS 210 Business Statistics.
Required courses for a minor in CIS are CIS 101, 101A, 111, 131, 152 or 202, and 331. Two additional CIS courses are to be selected from the remaining course offerings.
The bachelor's degree requires completion of 124 credits, a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 and a grade of C- or above in all course work in the major department.
