Mission Statement

MISSION: EDUCATION FOR LIVES OF SERVICE

Waldorf College seeks to be a lively community of learning, faith and service.  Our mission is to educate the whole person in the spirit of Jesus Christ, preparing the student to serve in the world.

As a liberal arts college
Waldorf offers a core curriculum to help students develop a broad base of knowledge in a variety of disciplines, an interest in intellectual pursuits, the ability to reason and communicate, and a growing awareness of the global community.

As a baccalaureate degree granting college
Waldorf offers programs leading to the bachelor of arts or bachelor of science degree, which build on the liberal arts foundation and concentrate on developing professional skills for careers or pursuing graduate work.

As a residential college
Waldorf offers a carefully designed student life program, as well as extensive co-curricular, cultural and community service activities designed to create a campus atmosphere conducive to a well-rounded educational experience. We value high academic achievement, personal growth, the building of lasting friendships, and a growing awareness of community responsibility.

As a Christian community
Waldorf is committed to the Lordship of Jesus Christ and in its proclamation of the gospel
seeks to explore the tension between Christian and societal values in order to engender spiritual growth, high moral principles and a commitment to Christian life. As a Christian community, Waldorf welcomes students of other faiths and creeds.

As a Lutheran college
Waldorf aims to model in all its programs and activities the Lutheran understanding of life lived in response to God’s grace—a divine calling in service to God and the human community.

As a college engaged with the world
Waldorf College seeks to bring the world to Forest City by having up to 15% of its student body be international students. The Lutheran Leaders Program brings outstanding young people to campus from around the world. Waldorf also actively promotes opportunities for study abroad for all of its American students who choose this option.
