Waldorf Choir Tour 2013

The Waldorf Choir will be travelling to Florida for its 2013 tour and will also visit Columbia Southern University in Alabama en route! The choir will present 10 concerts, including performances at the Gulf Shores Civic Center in Gulf Shores AL; St. Luke Cathedral in Orlando, FL and the Basilica Cathedral in St. Augustine, FL. The choir will visit and collaborate with several high schools along the route, including a joint concert in Orlando with the Freedom High School choir, Timber Creek High School choir and Florida Gulf Coast University choir. In addition, the choir will visit several place where its director Dr. Adam Luebke has studied and worked. 

The tour program is entitled "A New Day" and features a variety of pieces ranging from the Lutheran choral tradition, folk songs, and contemporary choral pieces. Some of the pieces the choir will perform are: F. Melius Christiansen's setting of Praise to the Lord; Lux aurumque by Eric Whitacre; two pieces by the important American composer Samuel Barber: Anthony O'Daly and The Coolin'; a spiritual by William Dawson, In His Care-O; and a beautiful arrangement of Dolly Parton's famous song, Light of a Clear Blue Morning.

The Waldorf Choir is the second oldest a cappella choir in the nation and is located at Waldorf College in Forest City, Iowa.
