Description: Lutheran Services in Iowa seeks a full-time Social Worker within our Behavior Health Intervention Service (BHIS) in the Mason City & surrounding areas.
Duties: “I felt like you helped me because you cared, not just because it was your job. Now I can do all the things you did for me for myself, and it’s an amazing feeling and accomplishment. Thank you for changing my life.”
Amazing thank you letters from clients are just one of the perks of this position. Do you want to be part of positively changing someone’s life? Consider joining our BHIS team! This position involves working one-on-one with children and families to help them build skills in areas such as anger management, decision-making and coping to help manage the behaviors that accompany a mental health diagnosis.
As a proven leader in the human services field, LSI offers a professional, collaborative environment with clinical supervision and access to great peer resources, such as on-site therapists. This position can also help you advance in your career through exposure to new curriculum resources and learning about a variety of behavioral and mental health diagnoses.
You will also provide ongoing assessment to meet the needs of the child and family, develop and make changes to the implementation plan based on the particular situation of the child and family, and evaluate child and family progress. This position balances independent work with a supportive team environment.
Travel is required as families are seen in their homes, an office or another community setting. Because services are delivered when children and families are available, activities will occur outside of normal business hours. The flexibility of the job can be a benefit as you schedule your own appointments in a manner to meet minimum productivity and client needs. You’ll also gain an understanding of marketing as you carry out marketing activities to help build your expected caseload.
Join us in making a difference for children and families!
Qualifications: Qualified applicants will have a Master’s degree or bachelor’s degree in Social Work (BSW) or human behavioral science field from an accredited institution together with the equivalent of one year of full-time professional social worker experience acquired after the degree in a public or private social services agency. Social work experience must include working with children with a mental health diagnosis and their families. Acceptable human behavior science degrees are: psychology, sociology, human services/development, and child development.
This position requires a valid driver's license, auto insurance, a good driving record and the ability to pass an extensive background check including checks of the Dependent Adult and Child Abuse registries, Sex Offender registry and a criminal history check.
LSI offers a competitive salary and benefit package including paid time off, health, dental, life, and vision insurance, 401(k).
