Exciting leadership opportunity for an experienced early childhood professional at the Iowa State University Child Care Center at Veterinary Medicine located in Ames, Iowa!
The ISU Child Care Center at Vet Med is licensed for 79 children, and is accredited with NAEYC. The state of the art facility is decorated in Sticks® artwork and boasts a natural landscape playground. This fun-loving center offers full day child care and early education for the Iowa State University community from infant through school age (12 yrs). The center has an open feel with abundant natural light. Located on the Veterinary College campus, the center is accessible to public transportation and is located within easy access to HWY 30/I-35. As the assistant director, you will work in partnership with the center director to lead parent groups, emergent curriculum reviews, setting up new classrooms, budget planning and the daily operations of the center. Qualifications: Requirements for the position include a degree in ECE or related field (BS degree is preferred), and a minimum of 2-4 years of documented experience in early childhood education, supervisory experience preferred. Proven strength required in written and oral communication skills, leadership and supervisory skills, and the ability to lead and coach staff in implementing a DAP (Developmentally Appropriate Practices) curriculum. Experience with infants and toddlers and the NAEYC accreditation process preferred. We are looking for an experienced leader with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and strong communication skills.
