Definition: The Wellness Intern, under the direct supervision of the Wellness Coordinator, is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of wellness programs targeting Cerro Gordo County employees, businesses, and community agencies. The Wellness Intern will provide supervision of the Department’s fitness center, perform wellness related assessments, create and evaluate programs, and provide knowledge and motivation to encourage employees and patrons to make lasting healthy lifestyle choices. The Wellness Intern may also assist the Wellness Coordinator with tasks coinciding with current wellness grant requirements and other wellness projects.
In addition, the intern will gain experience and knowledge in policy creation and implementation, fitness assessments, health risk appraisals, exercise prescription, lifestyle coaching, corporate wellness program development and implementation, presentation and promotional communications, and utilization of wellness software.
