Internship details: The Society is prepared to offer one full-time (hours needed to fulfill credit requirements) or two part-time (based on number of hours needed for credits) paid internship positions as well as non-paid internships. The intern reports to the museum director. Internship projects: 1. History/Museum Archival - Historical research, museum collection management, archival work, oral history, museum exhibit design, fabrication and installation of temporary exhibits. 2. Marketing/Public Relations – All aspects of marketing and promotion of the museum’s past, present and future is open for creativity and development. 3. Education and Educational Programming – Help plan events such as special exhibits, develop docent training and programs for adults and children. 4. Fund-raising/Special Events – Arrange, supervise, and attend special events to increase funds for the Society. Internship requirements: Declared major for a BA degree in History, Museum Studies or a related field; excellent writing skills; strong attention to detail; ability to successfully manage multiple priorities; and ability to work well alone and in a group. Optional but recommended: museum registration experience and familiarity with PastPerfect software. Other Majors/Minors who might be interested in an internship could include those in Education, Marketing/Tourism, Non-Profit Management and Communications.
