Theatre Intern, Children's Theatre, Dallas, TX

Dallas Children's Theater often uses qualified college undergraduate or graduate students of the performing arts, arts education or arts administration to work in full- or part-time internships.

Internships are customized for each participant and may include a combination of duties. A stipend is sometimes offered based upon the type of internship. Housing is not provided. Reliable transportation is required. Dallas Children's Theater will work with colleges or universities to arrange credited internships. Undergraduate and graduate students may apply throughout the year.

Areas for internship may include:
Production
Assistant Stage Management: Assist our stage manager at auditions, during rehearsals and serve on running crews for all main stage productions.

Technical: Assist production staff and designers in all areas of production. Duties may include set and prop construction, board operation, light hanging and clerical assistance.

Administration
Development: Assist the Development Director with the annual fund campaign and fundraising events, and grant proposal writing. Duties may include research, planning, computer data entry, mailing list maintenance and general office assistance.

PR/Marketing: Assist the PR/Marketing Director in the promotion and sales of all productions, education programs and special events for the theater. Duties may include writing press releases, newsletter preparation, general office work and customer relations.

Box Office/Subscription Campaign: Assist in ticket sales, customer relations, telemarketing and all aspects of computerized box office operations.

Education: Assist Education Director in operation of drama classes for children ages 3 to 16. Duties may include data entry, light typing, assistant teaching, helping with After School Drama classes and Curtains Up On Reading classes and assisting with class performances.
