Disturbances or Demonstrations

The primary function of a college is to discover and disseminate knowledge by means of research and teaching. To fulfill this function a free interchange of ideas is necessary not only within its walls but with the world beyond as well. It follows that a college must do everything possible to ensure within it the fullest degree of intellectual freedom. Members of Waldorf College have freely associated themselves with Waldorf  and in doing so have affirmed their commitment to a philosophy of mutual tolerance and respect.

Students and student organizations are encouraged to examine and to discuss all questions of interest to them, and to express opinion publicly and privately in a non-threatening and non-violent manner. Students are free and urged to support causes by orderly means such as demonstrations which do not disrupt the regular and essential operation of the institution and do not infringe on the rights of others.

A demonstration which does disrupt the regular and essential operation of Waldorf will be considered a disturbance. Please use the following plan.

If you hear/receive a rumor or report of a disturbance.

  • Remain calm.
  • Notify the Vice President of Student Life at 8161 (office) or 9-585-2160 (home) or notify the Director of Residence Life at 8162 (office) or 8270 (home).
  • The Vice President of Student Life or the Director of Residence Life will then have the responsibility to notify Security or the Forest City Police Department as they see necessary.

In Case of Emergency Dial: 9-911
