Creative WritingAs a student who loves reading, writing and creating, you owe it to yourself to check out the Creative Writing Program at Waldorf College. Our creative writing major and minor programs offer one of the most engaging, innovative, and personal courses of study in the field!

As a student in the Waldorf College Creative Writing Program, you will:

  • Read a wide variety of contemporary literature and discuss themes and analyze techniques in seminar-style classes.
  • Explore many genres of writing and develop your craft in writers' workshops and capstone thesis projects.
  • Engage with motivated and caring peers as writers, thinkers and friends.
  • Take courses from and work one-on-one with faculty who are both excellent teachers and published, practicing writers.

Program Features

Internships

Creative Writing students edit and produce Crusader: A Journal of Engaged Writing, the annual campus literary magazine, as well as work with creative writing faculty as teaching assistants.

Publication Opportunities

Creative Writing students revise and submit their work each year to Crusader and the Salveson Prizes in Poetry and Prose.

The Distinguished Visiting Writers Series at Waldorf

Creative Writing students work with nationally-recognized writers such as Da Chen, Tim Bascom, and Rebecca Wee.
