Assistant Professor of History and Policitcal Science Blake Slonecker will be presenting the paper, "Sex Underground: Women's Liberation at the Seattle Helix," at the Pacific Northwest History Conference in Tacoma, Washington on October 19, 2012. The conference focuses on Pacific Northwest History "From the Civil War to Civil Rights." His paper will explore how the women's liberation movement helped shape the political culture of the mixed-sex work collective that produced Seattle's most prominent underground newspaper, the Helix, between 1967 and 1970. The conference will be held at the Washington State History Museum.
