Local artist Sonja Johnson finds inspiration in the world around her. Paintings of farm animals make up her show Impulse and Remembrance, opening this week in the Waldorf College Art Gallery. An artist reception will be held on Thursday, September 12, from 6 to 8 p.m., with Johnson speaking at 7 p.m.

Dr. Sara Finley, assistant professor of psychology at Waldorf College, presented two research projects at the 35th annual meeting of the Cognitive Science Society in Berlin, Germany this summer.

Waldorf College students and regional musical enthusiasts now have more performance opportunities with DrumLine Battle™ and Drum Corps International’s new SoundSport® program. Both ensembles will rehearse on the Waldorf campus and utilize modern technology to compete virtually with similar groups all over the world. Both DrumLine Battle™ and SoundSport® are open to college students and community members alike.

The Luise V. Hanson Library at Waldorf College has been awarded a grant from Iowa’s Resource Enhancement and Protection (REAP) and Historical Resource Development Program. The funding will support the second year of a three-year project to improve the Library’s archives.

The community is invited to attend a special dinner theatre production at Waldorf College on Thursday, July 18 and Friday, July 19 to benefit the Waldorf College Theatre Company, a traveling troupe of students that performs throughout the Midwest each summer.
