Online Program Director-Emergency Management

Waldorf College Online Learning is seeking interested and qualified candidates for an Online Program Director for Emergency Management.  The Program Director will lead and coordinate program strategic planning, program maintenance and assessment, and curriculum development for the B.A. and B.A.S. online Emergency Management programs.  The Program Director is responsible for working with faculty to resolve academic issues and develop collegiality among faculty and staff.      

The Program Director reports to the Vice President of Academic Affairs.  This is a 12 month, part-time (.10 FTE), non-benefit eligible position that may be performed remotely.                                       
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Managing the online Emergency Management program: leading and coordinating program strategic planning, program maintenance and assessment, program advisory board, and curriculum development
  • Identify and approve faculty members who are qualified to teach the various online courses in the Emergency Management program.
  • Select faculty course writers to develop new online courses or revise existing online courses
  • Collaborate with the CSU Program Director and Lead Faculty to identify opportunities to share course development, with both schools sharing in the decision-making process
  • Assist the Academic Dean and Online Learning Department to resolve online academic issues
  • Ensure that the online program meets the program goals and course objectives
  • Review articulation and transfer agreements and serves as program curriculum content expert for the online Emergency Management program
  • Maintain a minimum of two hours for “office hours” each week (Skype preferred) and communicate to online faculty the opportunity to contact you during that time; outside of office hours, respond to messages within 24 hours during the work week
  • Maintain regular contact with the Academic Dean and consult as needed
  • Attend regular department meetings and serve on committees, councils and/or task forces as needed.
  • Develop collegiality among faculty and staff

Teaching and course development are not part of the scope of this part-time position.  However, the ideal candidate is encouraged to consider Waldorf teaching and course development opportunities, which will be compensated on an adjunct or contract basis.
Education and Experience
  • Master’s degree required, doctorate preferred.
  • Five or more years of practical experience in Emergency Management preferred 
  • Previous experience working with online/distance learning preferred.  Previous experience working in adult education preferred.
