Media Arts Instructor / Media Specialist

Waldorf College invites candidates for a Media Arts Instructor / Media Specialist to join a creative and dynamic team in the COMM Department.  The COMM department has been redesigning its Media Arts curriculum and is excited about the growing interest in film production.  The ideal candidate will have a passion and interest in both teaching and producing. Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree plus experience in the field of Media Arts, Master's preferred
  • Skill set in Adobe Creative Cloud Design Suite
  • Experience with digital film production and editing
  • Experience with Red Epic X a plus
  • Experience with Web Design
  • Experience with Social Media and other media outlets
  • Desire and ability to educate and connect with students both in the classroom and with practical application of skills

Responsibilities

Media Arts Instructor (.5 FTE non-tenure track faculty) - Will instruct approximately 12 credits/academic year in the following courses:
 
  • Visual Theory (1x/semester):  This is a 200 level course to apply critical thinking skills for viewing and producing visual media.
  • Web Design (team taught and will provide tech support):  This is a 400 level course that explores the basics of designing and developing functional websites.  Team taught and with emphasis in technical support and background.
  • Advance Media (team taught and will serve as Creative Lead):  This is a 400 level course and focuses on advance project-orientated approaches to film making.  Waldorf College has been fortunate in the past couple of years to have both student film production and events and opportunities to work with professional film makers.
  • Additional opportunities to teach and/or review courses for Waldorf online programs.

Media Specialist (.5 FTE staff)
As the Media Specialist, practical application of skills sets will be utilized for production, shooting and promotion of student projects, films and other forms of media outlets such as social media, television and radio stations, managing live feeds and streaming for campus events to increase reach and promote the College. 

There are also excellent opportunities to create new content for campus media outlets (radio and television).  The Media Specialist will work with students and other COMM/Media Arts faculty to troubleshoot technical issues both in the classroom and within the department’s systems and labs.
