The inauguration of Waldorf's 16th president, Dr. Robert A. Alsop, will be held on Friday, April 27 at 7:30 p.m. in the John K. and Luise V. Hanson Fieldhouse. A public reception will take place following the inauguration in the YMCA gym.

In April of 2011, the Waldorf College Board of Trustees selected Dr. Robert A. Alsop as the 16th president of Waldorf College. He began his duties on September 1, 2011.
Dr. Alsop joined Waldorf College in 1998 after receiving a Ph.D. in English from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. During his tenure at Waldorf, Dr. Alsop has served in a variety of roles including Associate Professor of English, Chair of the English Department, Director of the Honors College, Assistant Academic Dean of the College, and most recently Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs.
A native of Duluth, MN, Dr. Alsop also earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, in 1989, and a master’s degree in English from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, IL, in 1993. He has a long record of scholarship in American and Renaissance Literature that have been published or presented at regional, national, and international conferences. Dr. Alsop has also received several awards for his teaching, including The Board of Trustees’ Outstanding Faculty Award and the Phi Theta Kappa Professor of the Year Award.
Dr. Alsop holds membership in a number of professional associations, serves as a board member for several community organizations, and is an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Dr. Alsop is married to Dr. Natalie Y. H. Alsop, a practicing child psychologist and adjunct professor. They have two sons, Ethan (13) and Elijah (9).
