Sailor of the Year Scholarship

Petty Officer Amy Davis (Fleet Forces Sea Sailor of the Year) – A native of Lowell, MA, Davis enlisted in the U.S. Navy in June of 1994. Davis’ decorations include a Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal (4 awards), Good Conduct Medal (4 awards) numerous unit actions, campaign medals, and service ribbons.

Petty Officer Leonardo Calderon (Chief of Naval Operations Shore Sailor of the Year) – A native of Mexico, Calderon enlisted in the U.S. Navy in March of 2000. As of 2007, Calderon was one of five instructors selected Naval Construction Force-wide to instruct from the University of La Verne. 

Gunnery Sergeant Andrew Jenkins (Pacific Fleet Sailor of the Year) – Jenkins enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 2004. Petty Officer Jenkins selected orders in February 2009 and reported to Field Medical Training Battalion in Camp Pendleton, CA, in March 2009 where he was selected as Company Gunnery Sergeant.

Petty Officer James L. Henson (Navy Reserve Sailor of the Year) – A native of Tampa, FL, Henson enlisted in the U.S. Navy in December 1995. Henson graduated from Aviation Maintenance Administrationman “A” School in Meridian, MS in May 1996 as number one in his class. In March 2005, he left active duty and transferred to VR-58 as a Selected Reservist to start his own private business.
