Chapter 33 Post 9-11 GI Bill

Chapter 33 Post 9-11 GI Bill provides educational benefits to eligible Veterans that have served at least 90 days of aggregate service on or after 9/11/01. If eligible, Veterans will have up to 15 years following release from active duty to utilize the 36 months of educational benefit. • The percentage Veterans are eligible for depends on their active duty service on or after 9/11/01,
  90 days – 40%
  6 months but less than 12 months – 50%
  12 months but less than 18 months – 60%
  24 months but less than 30 months – 80%
  30 months but less than 36 months – 90%
  36 months – 100%
• The Veterans Affairs office will determine the percentage the Veteran is eligible for.
• BAH Basic Allowance for Housing:
  Under Ch. 33, Veterans may receive a monthly housing allowance based on the Basic Allowance for Housing for a military member. In order to get an estimate of what a Veteran may be eligible for please visit the BAH Calculator, and enter in the pay grade and zip code where the Veteran is located.
• Paperwork Needed for Enrollment at Waldorf College:
  Veterans will need to submit a copy of their DD-214 and the 22-1990 (Application for Education Benefits) or 22-1995 (Request for Change of Program or Place of Training), and their Certificate of Eligibility indicating what percentage they are eligible for.
• Yellow Ribbon Program GI Enhancement Program
  Waldorf College is a voluntary member of the Yellow Ribbon Program.
• Veterans may apply for benefits online through VONAPP (Veterans On Line Application). Please note that this paperwork must be provided by the Veteran to both the VA Office and Waldorf College; Waldorf will not forward paperwork to the VA office.

Chapter 33 Post 9-11 Transfer of Benefits

• Service Members enrolled in the Post 9-11 GI Bill program may be able to transfer unused educational benefits to their spouses or children. In order to transfer the benefit the service member will need to complete the Transferability Application. For questions concerning eligibility, please contact Veterans Affairs.
• Paperwork Needed for Enrollment at Waldorf College: The student will need to submit a copy of their 22-1990E (Application for Education Benefits) or 22-1995 (Request for Change of Program or Place of Training), and their Certificate of Eligibility indicating what percentage they are eligible for; a DD-214 is not required.
• The child or spouse may apply for benefits online through VONAPP (Veterans On Line Application). Please note that this paperwork must be provided by the Veteran to both the VA Office and Waldorf College; Waldorf will not forward paperwork to the VA office.
  • Veteran Spouse/ Dependent
    A Spouse or Dependent of a Veteran is considered a Learning Partner with Waldorf College. All Learning Partners will receive a waived application fee and 10% discount on their tuition. For verification purposes, Waldorf will require proof of relation.
